Sexy, funny, witty, what more can I ask for?
Tori is more than just a workaholic, nothing ever passes her notice. She's a very ambitious professional, with her sight on a prize, and nothing will get on the way of that. She can be a control freak too, if you ask me. Once she sets on a plan, she does not deviate unless it is absolutely necessary-- and only, if there's a win for her in it. Although she has a big heart, no men are allowed near it. She's about to close a deal, and it all goes as planned until Brit comes in the picture and throws her a curve ball.
Brit is a CEO extraordinaire. He's young, handsome, wealthy, and his biggest flaw is he only dates women that look out of a magazine (well, truth be told-- he does date women who pose for a magazine, amongst others). Brit steps in and makes a few changes to the deal his company is trying to close, his only purpose is to seduce the woman that can get access to the one person he seeks. The last thing he counts on is that the woman, Tori, is a worthy opponent. She's like no woman he's ever met before, and so the challenge begins.
Brit wants a one night stand. Tori wants nothing. Brit proves her she feels the same electric current he feels for her. Tori admits the attraction goes both ways, yet she'll have none of
him. She doesn't understand why a man like him would be interested in someone like her.
It doesn't take Brit long to realize his original purpose in his pursuit of Tori has changed. What is supposed to be a weekend one time fling leaves him wanting more. The same as Brit, Tori wants more but she isn't willing to have her heart broken. God knows, she doesn't want history to repeat itself. Tori is too sharp a woman and discovers in no time Brit's original intentions towards her. She gives him a piece of her mind, and leaves him determined never to see him again.
Unfortunately it already is too late for Brit to take it all back and ignore his feelings. Never has he felt the way he feels, no one has ever challenged him the way Tori has. As for Tori, if she could take it all back and start over she would, but all she can do is leave it all in the past and move on.
Of course, one needs to be the wiser of the two, and that is when the truth of each other's feelings comes out, and they have to decide whether to deal with it or to walk away.
I read this story in one day. It is my total kind of contemporary romance. Good story line, believable characters, great pace, nice level of steam (yeah-- I love the way the love scenes were described), great arguments/dialogue. I can go on and on, but in a nutshell, the story had a check mark on everything I like in romance.
