Four words: dark, intense, touching, and loving.

Allie is not your regular type of girl. She's loving and caring. She's a good friend to have, and tries to be the best single mom she can be. If only people could see beyond her external facade, they'd know there's a darkness eating her inside out.

Something in Allie's not long ago past, traumatized her-- in my opinion anyway, almost irrevocably. Her best friend Jacob betrayed her trust, and you can't even imagine how. The jerk! After such experience, Allie's self confidence touched bottom. The girl has serious issues, she trusts no one, and who can blame her if the cops, who are supposed to help do nothing to that effect, and instead do just the opposite.

She doesn't believe she can say "no" to things. Her confidence is so f*cked up, that when she tries to say "no" she actually means "yes" because that's the only thing she knows. She has a monthly date at a night club. It really is her monthly fix. She goes, picks a guy out of the club, and has sex. She doesn't look for pleasure. Her pleasure in it is not feeling. Pretty messed up, don't you think?

Anyway, that is her life up until the night she crosses paths with Colin. Aaww, Colin is my hero!!

Colin is very reserved, and don't let looks deceive you. He's been a bad guy. There is a darkness about him that he can't get rid off easily. When Allie picks him up at the bar, she looks forward to feeling used, and hurt... well, well, well...it turns out she has the best ORGASM ever. Colin wants to see her again, but she doesn't it. That's her rule. The thing is no one has ever made her feel the way Colin does.

Colin is not about to let her walk out that easy. The guys has some tricks up his sleeve, oh yes he does! He's manipulative, and you wouldn't know it until he's done it. Next thing Allie knows, they're together. She doesn't know what to make of the situation but it's not as if she has many choices either. Her priority is taking care of her daughter, and Colin is her one and only way of doing so.

When I first read the book title, I knew it'd be good. When I read the first chapter, I was sucked in. By the time I got to the second chapter my thoughts were: "oh my God, please don't let that happen, no.. please don't do that...say yes... say no...OMG someone please come help!" It was pretty intense.

I really enjoyed this story. There were times I thought, "come on Allie, you're living there...now you need to do something for yourself... don't you want to go out get a job?..." BUT it wasn't as if Colin would let her anyway. Yes, he's that kind of alpha. Through the story, Allie grows out her self-confidence, her insecurities, and she understands and is comfortable in knowing that she has the right to say no. And that, right there, makes the story very strong.

There were times I wanted to scream because Colin gets into this sorta silent treatment. Then again, he's also a troubled soul. He loves her, and he wants everything to be good for her and her daughter, but man... there were a couple of times I wanted to slap him and say "say something!"

The dark that surrounds both the hero and the heroine's lives is the glue that brings them together, and what makes them walk into the light of an awesome future.

Need I say more? I really enjoyed it.
