A good best friend's little sister to lovers story.
Sophie is one of the youngest Sullivans. Unlike her twin sister, she's the reserved one. She never dares to do anything other than what's always expected of her. Uh huh, well how wrong has everyone been! Regardless of what anyone thinks she is, she's nothing like it. Oh, and she's been secretly and madly in love with Jake since she was five. No one sees that coming, well maybe her mom does. Sophie has had it, and it's now or never. She's tired of doing the expected, and decides to do just the opposite, if that means Jake will finally notice her. Oh boy, is she in for a surprise?!
Jake is almost like an adopted son. The Sullivans love him, he's sorta the black sheep. He reciprocates the feeling as he sees them all as brothers and sisters, well except for Sophie. He wants her out of his mind, but she is always there. He puts distance, she closes it. It doesn't take him long to realize Sophie is not the sweet girl everyone thinks she is, and she's nothing like what he's used to. The guy doesn't know what to do. Then at his friend's wedding, he finally cracks, and admits he likes her. He steals a kiss. A kiss that burns them both. He tries the escape route, but he never expects sweet little Sophie to prove persistent. And surprise, the barrier is gone, it's really wrong to have one night of fun with his best friends' sweet little sister but he can't resist her charms. Who would've thought that one night of fun could mean a choice of a future with her or one without her.
Overall, I thought this was a very nice, sweet, funny, steamy love story. The Sullivans grow in you. Jake doesn't think he's good enough for Sophie; Sophie thinks she's not good enough for Jake. But they realize they have more in common than not, and it's up to them to make it work. I really enjoyed this story, and look forward to reading more of the Sullivans by Bella Andre. Burb:
Sophie Sullivan, a librarian in San Francisco, was five years old when she fell head over heels in love with Jake McCann. Twenty years later, she's convinced the notorious bad boy still sees her as the "nice" Sullivan twin. That is, when he bothers to look at her at all. But when they both get caught up in the magic of the first Sullivan wedding, she knows it's long past time to do whatever it takes to make him see her for who she truly is...the woman who will love him forever.
Jake has always been a magnet for women, especially since his Irish pubs made him extremely wealthy. But the only woman he really wants is the one he can never have. Not only is Sophie his best friend's off-limits younger sister...he can't risk letting her get close enough to discover his deeply hidden secret.
Only, when Sophie appears on his doorstep as Jake's every fantasy come to life-smart, beautiful, and shockingly sexy-he doesn't have a prayer of taking his eyes, or his hands, off her. And he can't stop craving more of her sweet smiles and sinful kisses. Because even though Jake knows loving Sophie isn't the right thing to do...how can he possibly resist?
