On One Condition made my heart ache.
Johanna is just a tad over her mid twenties. She's not exactly a prude, but she ain't a saint either. She's a super model look alike kindergarten teacher, whose heart is larger than life. Out of all nights, the one night she decides to loosen up (thanks to her friends), she happens to have one too many a drink. Next thing she knows, she wakes up to the most beautiful green eyes she's ever seen.
She's not having any of it. She doesn't care who the heck he is or what he does, she sends him right back where he came from. To top it all off it is Valentine's Day. She hates Valentine's Day. Gosh, her hate for that darn day is the culprit for her getting more than just tipsy the night before.
Damon cannot believe Johanna kicked him out. Apparently, no one ever kicks him out. Everyone else knows better, except for Johanna. The woman wants nothing to do with him. Good grief, unlike any other woman, this one doesn't even want to know his name. That hurts his ego.
Damon is intrigued by her, not just because she's beautiful, or because of his fondness of the superb night they shared, but mainly because the woman put his gorgeous ass out the door. No one dare does that. Not to Damon anyway. It's too bad she did.
There is a turn of events that puts her right back on his way, pretty much on a silver platter. Damon does not waste the opportunity to seize her. Johanna throws his proposal back at him. Damon doesn't bend, he proves very persuasive. She gives in, but "On One Condition". That is when the chase for her heart begins.
Oh my, every time I think of the story I "aawww". The characters go thru a mix of emotions, as they begin to discover they're falling in love with one another. Every time I thought they were close to toss their business transaction, the hedious Tim or Cecile the bitchy witch would show up, I wanted to wring their necks LOL. Then again, that only enforced the bond between Damon and Johanna, which I thought made the story great. Come on...it really did my heart ache. At times it even had me thinking oh no... what? ...no. It is a terrific short romance, and a 5/5 for me. Book Overview:
OCD kindergarten teacher Johanna hates Valentine’s Day. She hates romance, hates commercialism, and definitely hates her school’s annual charity date auction. She never expects her pre-auction night of drinking to land a sexy Brit in her bed. Or for that Brit to show up at the auction, bid thousands just to talk to her again, and get down on one knee in front of everyone and ask her to marry him.
Viscount Damon Hayes has never met anyone like Johanna. She’s neurotic, fascinating, and fun. She also doesn’t care about his title and doesn’t want his money, which makes Johanna perfect to fulfill a surprise clause in his father’s will: marry within three months and remain married for a year, or lose his fortune. A relationship is out of the question, but when passions ignite and the two fall in love, their marriage of convenience becomes anything but
